My Mission

I believe that every person deserves to approach the end of life with dignity, comfort, and compassionate support.

My Mission is to provide holistic, non-medical guidance to individuals and families navigating serious illness, caregiving, dementia, hospice, grief and life's final transition.

Through education, planning, advocacy, emotional support and meaningful end-of-life experience for themselves and those they love.

MY VALUES

COMPASSION

I meet each individual and family with empathy, kindness, and a deep respect for their unique journey.

EMPOWERMENT

I believe people deserve the information, support, and confidence needed to make decisions that align with their values and wishes.

ADVOCACY

I help insure that my clients' voices are heard and that their goals, preferences, and choices remain at the center of their care

INTEGRITY

I approach this sacred work with honesty, professionalism, respect, and a commitment to serving others with care and humility.

SERVICE

I am dedicated to supporting my clients, their families, and my community during some of life's most important and vulnerable moments.

HOLISTIC CARE

I recognize that end-of-life care involves far more than physical needs. My approach honors the emotional, spiritual, practical, cultural, and relational aspects of the dying process.

Leaving well is rooted in the belief that the final chapter of life deserves the same care, intention, and support as every chapter that comes before it.

My Story

About Marie Antoinette Lopez

Marie Antoinette is a trained End-of-Life Doula, Reiki master teacher, meditation teacher, artist, and hospice vigil companion with more than three decades of experience supporting individuals and families through illness, grief, dementia, and the dying process. Her work began during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, sitting bedside with patients who often had little support, and has since expanded into hospice care, pediatric support, legacy work, grief education, and end-of-life planning.

Certified through both the University of Vermont End-of-Life Doula Program and VDC, Marie brings a compassionate, creative, and deeply calming presence to her work. She supports clients with advance directives, post-death wishes, vigil planning, obituary and legacy workshops, family conversations, and emotional and spiritual support before, during, and after death. She believes that preparing for death with openness and intention can reduce fear and create more meaningful experiences for both individuals and their loved ones.

Marie has worked extensively with hospice patients, cancer patients, autistic children, and families navigating anticipatory grief and dementia. Her background in Reiki (practicing since 1989, teaching over 25 years) and meditation (lifelong practitioner teaching since 2002) allows her to offer grounding practices that help clients find peace, connection, and comfort during difficult transitions.

She is also the author of three children’s books that help families talk honestly and gently about death, grief, emotions, and remembrance. Her work is rooted in the belief that children deserve truthful, loving conversations about loss and that creativity, storytelling, and ritual can help families heal together.

An artist and educator as well as a doula, Marie incorporates legacy art, guided meditation, and personalized rituals into her practice, helping families create meaningful memories and sacred moments during end-of-life care.

Marie is fluent in Spanish.
